Tama Starclassic Maple drum shell set
This Tama Starclassic Maple drum shell set is built around the idea of a timeless drum kit with wide-ranging versatility. Finished in Dark Mocha, the set includes a 22" x 16" virgin bass drum, 10" x 7" tom, 12" x 8" tom and 16" x 16" floor tom. This shell pack is supplied without stands, snare drum, cymbals or drum throne.

Maple shells with open tone and strong construction
The shells are made of maple. The toms and floor tom use 6 plies with a 5 mm thickness, while the bass drum is built from 8 plies at 7 mm. Tama uses a cross laminated construction here, with the plies laid in alternating directions.
This build allows a thinner shell with a stronger structure. At the same time, the sound stays open because shell vibration is used efficiently and the shell keeps its shape well over time.
Hardware and setup of the MA42TZS-DMB
This Tama Starclassic Maple MA42TZS-DMB uses some of the same hardware found on Tama's Star flagship series. That includes tom holders, die-cast hoops, Quick-Lock tom brackets and an air cushioned principle for the floor tom legs. Special tension bolts are also used to reduce the chance of loosening while playing.
