The SE Electronics SE8 Pair is a small diaphragm condenser microphone set assembled for convincing stereo recordings in the studio and on stage. For this matched pair, two microphones are selected from hundreds of individual units to deliver identical performance, with the highest possible correlation across the full frequency range and nearly identical sensitivity. In practice, this gives you accurate stereo imaging and strong spatial placement in your recordings.
Each capsule is hand-crafted and individually tuned in SE Electronics' own factory. The ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm responds quickly to transients, so even small nuances are captured clearly. The optimized electrode contributes to superior linearity and a smooth, balanced frequency response with a natural sound.
Clear reproduction, low noise and control on loud sources
The acoustic design with precision components keeps the off-axis response nearly frequency-independent, helping to avoid coloration in demanding applications. A very short signal path, no ICs and specially optimized class-A electronics make the SE Electronics SE8 an exceptionally quiet microphone in its class. The transformerless design supports transparency and clarity, while the new electronic design enables high dynamic range and brilliant transient response without distortion.
For extra control, the SE8 includes a switchable attenuation pad with two settings, allowing close-miking techniques even on loud sources such as brass and snare drums without overloading your preamp or mixer. The low-cut filters at 80 Hz and 160 Hz help reduce low-frequency rumble, footstep noise or excessive bass caused by proximity effect.
