This Sonor snare drum was developed from the collaboration with Benny Greb and builds on his earlier signature model. As Benny puts it, this is not an update but an upgrade, with details aimed at more sound options and a clearly defined character.
The 13" x 5.75" size gives this Benny Greb Signature Brass Snaredrum a compact, direct response while still delivering a full sound. That combination makes it appealing for drummers who want plenty of nuance from their snare.
Brass snare drum with warm, rounded tone
The 1.2 mm patinated brass shell with center stripe and Vintage Brass Finish gives this brass snare drum the warm, rounded tone these shells are known for. Pleasant overtones add extra emphasis to edge rim shots, while the shell in this size also keeps very good sensitivity.
Sonor pairs that with Teardrop lugs and triple flanged hoops, matching the vintage-inspired design of this snare. The brown finish and Vintage Brass look also give it a distinctive appearance in your drum setup.
MonoRail damping and Dual Glide strainer
A key part of the Sonor SBD 2.0 is the MonoRail damping mechanism. Each snare drum has two of them, loaded with Benny Greb’s preferred damping materials, "The Felt" and "The Sheep", which can be swapped between each other.
This lets you shape the sound of the snare drum from fat low tones to a more funky character. The Dual Glide snare strainer completes the setup for players who want to react quickly to detail and response in practice, recording or live use.
