Gretsch snare drum with warm, versatile tone
If you need a snare drum that works in many settings, the Gretsch Renown Maple 14 x 6.5 is a strong choice. This Gretsch is aimed at the professional drummer and is known for its warm sound, open harmonic tone and versatility in studios, on live stages and everywhere in between.
According to Gretsch, the modern shell combines tones from the 1950s up to today. That gives you a warm vintage character with a modern attack and projection, making this snare suitable for many playing styles and applications.
Construction of the Renown Maple 14 x 6.5
The shell is built from 7-ply maple and uses a 30° bearing edge, the edge where the head sits. Together with the Gretsch Silver Sealer on the inside, this helps shape the open and resonant character of this maple snare drum.
Gretsch fits this Renown Maple with the updated 302 steel hoop, also used on Brooklyn and Broadkaster drums. This hoop gives you the focused response associated with a die-cast hoop, but with less weight for improved resonance. Remo heads complete this Vintage Pearl version.
For stage and studio
The Gretsch Renown Maple has proven itself for years in a wide range of situations. That balance of warmth, focus and projection makes this 14 x 6.5 snare drum a good match for drummers who want one snare that holds up both on stage and in the studio.
At Magna Music, you can also talk to staff who are players themselves, which is useful if you want to compare this Gretsch within your setup or against other configurations in the Renown series.
