Construction and hardware of the Gretsch Catalina Maple
The 7-ply maple shells have a 30-degree bearing edge and a natural finish on the inside. The toms and snare drum use 2.5 mm triple flanged steel hoops, while the bass drum has matching maple bass drum hoops. The brown finish and chrome hardware give this Gretsch Catalina Maple Shell Set its fresh, clean appearance.
For mounting, Gretsch uses a gas cap Bass Drum Mount Plate and an ultra-low profile GTS Mounting system. T-Wing screws and nuts make adjustment comfortable in use, and rubber inserts on the bass drum claws help protect the hoops.
