Kawai digital piano with grand piano feel
The Kawai CA-901 EP is a digital piano built around a highly realistic playing experience. The Grand Feel III action uses long wooden keys for all 88 notes, with graded hammer weights, a triple sensor system and let-off simulation for precise control, including in pianissimo.
The Ebony & Ivory Touch key surfaces add grip through their slightly textured finish. Extra weights in the front part of the keys give you more balance between strong fortissimo playing and controlled soft passages.
Grand piano sound in the CA-901 EP
At the heart of this digital piano are the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand and the SK-EX COMPETITION GRAND, reproduced with the latest SK-EX Rendering sound technology. This combines high-resolution multi-channel sampling of all 88 keys with resonance modelling, so nuances, dynamics and the complex interaction of strings, pedals and cabinet are reproduced naturally.
In addition, the Kawai CA-901 EP also includes Harmonic Imaging XL with extra piano sounds, including the Kawai EX concert grand, the Shigeru Kawai SK-5 and the acoustic Kawai K-60. You also get sounds such as electric pianos, Hammond and church organ, strings and choir, plus Dual, Split and four-hands modes for varied use at home, in lessons or during practice.
Soundboard, control and connectivity
The TwinDrive Soundboard system sets the rear part of the soundboard in motion through two AURES transducers, allowing a wide frequency range to be projected directly through the soundboard. Combined with 6 speakers, 360-degree diffusers, digital power amps, Hi-End Audio signal wiring and a high-quality headphone amplifier, this produces a spacious piano sound that spreads naturally through the room.
For control, the CA-901 EP has a 5-inch touchscreen with an anti-glare surface that can switch off completely when inactive. Bluetooth MIDI 5.0, Bluetooth Audio 5.1, USB-to-host and USB connections allow pairing with smart devices, apps, audio playback and MP3/WAV recording. The integrated Virtual Piano Artisan function also lets you adjust resonance, hammer noise and even the pitch or volume of individual notes.
