The Tama WBR52RZS-TQP Starclassic Walnut Birch is a drum shell pack for drummers looking for a pronounced sound in the low and mid range, while keeping a clear and well-articulated stick attack. According to Tama, that comes from the combination of birch and American Black Walnut, where the warmth in the lows and mids is complemented by the high-frequency response of birch.
The tom and floor tom shells are built from 6 mm, using 4 plies of birch and 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut. The bass drum uses an 8 mm shell with 5 plies of birch and 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut. This keeps the familiar Starclassic character intact while adding its own tonal color in this Walnut/Birch version.
Construction, hardware and configuration
This Tama shell pack includes a 22" x 16" bass drum, 10" x 7" tom, 12" x 8" tom, 14" x 12" floor tom and 16" x 14" floor tom. It also comes with 2 x Tama MC69 Single tom holder. The 10 inch and 12 inch toms include the Star-Cast Mounting System, and the floor toms include legs with Air Cushioned Floor Tom Legs.
You also get Quick-Lock Tom Brackets, a Swivel-Wing Tom Holder, Bass Drum Spur Bracket, Die-Cast Hoops, Claw Hooks and EVANS® Heads. That makes this shell set a strong option for drummers who want a complete Starclassic foundation and prefer to build the rest of their setup themselves.
