Kawai CA-401 B digital piano with wooden keyboard
The Kawai CA-401 B is a digital piano for players who place great value on a realistic touch. The GrandFeel Compact keyboard uses long wooden keys, a triple sensor system, let-off simulation and an Ivory Touch surface on the white keys, so you keep a high level of control and can play fast repetitions accurately.
All 88 keys move on a balance pin system like an acoustic grand piano. The graded hammers, counterweights in the bass register and longer key construction also make playing further back on the keys more comfortable, which is especially noticeable during lessons and intensive practice sessions.
Piano sound from the Shigeru Kawai EX Competition Grand
For its sound, the Kawai CA-401 B uses recordings of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand and the Kawai EX concert grand, with 88-key sampling and Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ technology. This preserves the character of each note and gives you a wide dynamic response, from soft pianissimo to powerful fortissimo.
The built-in speaker system uses new audio components and a new power supply, which according to Kawai results in a clearer and more powerful sound than its predecessor. Headphone playing is also more pleasant through the SHS headphone system, which adds more spatial depth to the piano tone.
Controls, lessons and Bluetooth
The OLED display keeps operation clear, so you can access functions directly from the panel without using the keyboard for control. The lesson function includes studies by Czerny, Burgmüller and Beyer, plus Alfred piano courses, with variable tempo and separate left- or right-hand playback. A four-hands mode and a recorder with space for 10,000 notes and up to 3 songs are included as well.
Bluetooth Audio/MIDI and USB-to-host give you plenty of freedom when using a smartphone or tablet. You can use apps such as Kawai PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer, or stream audio from your device through the built-in speaker system for play-alongs and instructional videos. The adjustable music rest with fold-out pins and the Grand Feel pedal system complete the instrument. At Magna Music, you can also compare a digital piano like this with personal advice in the store.
