Gretsch jazz bop drum kit with warm and open sound
The Gretsch Renown Maple Jazz Bop Kit is a jazz bop drum kit for the professional drummer looking for a versatile set with a warm sound. This Gretsch shell set has proven itself for years in studios and on live stages, with a tone that combines vintage warmth with modern attack and projection.
The 7-ply maple shells combine, according to Gretsch, tonal qualities from the 1950s up to today. You hear that in an open harmonic response that works across a wide range of situations, from compact jazz setups to other playing contexts where definition and resonance matter.
Construction of the Gretsch Renown Maple RN2-J483
The shells are built from 7 plies of maple and use a 30° bearing edge, the edge where the drumhead sits. Together with the world-famous Gretsch Silver Sealer on the inside, this helps shape the open character of this Renown Maple.
Gretsch also uses the updated 302 steel hoops here, known from the Brooklyn and Broadkaster drums. They offer the focus of a die-cast hoop, but with less weight for more resonance. The low profile tom mounting system, the round Gretsch tom brackets on the bass drum, chrome hardware and Remo heads complete the set.
Shell set in jazz bop configuration
This shell set in natural finish includes an 18" x 14" bass drum, a 12" x 8" tom and a 14" x 14" floor tom. The 12" tom comes including rim, the floor tom including legs, and you also get a single tom holder for mounting in the bass drum.
With this compact RN2-J483 configuration, you get a Gretsch jazz bop drum kit that suits drummers who want a nimble setup without giving up tonal range. If you want to compare different configurations, Magna Music can also offer personal advice from a drum specialist.
