The Laskey Classic 85GW European Shank is a french horn mouthpiece from the well-known G Series, widely praised as one of the most popular horn mouthpiece lines ever made. This silver model builds on years of development work by Scott Laskey, who created custom mouthpieces for many leading horn players.
Within the series, the 85GW stands out as the Gail Williams signature model. Its narrower rim gives you more flexibility and freedom of movement while retaining the characteristic Laskey rim.
Control, articulation and intonation
The G Series is known for its rounded rim design with a high point toward the inner side. In practice, that translates into effortless flexibility, strong control and precision while playing. That shape also supports clear articulation and accurate intonation across the full range of your horn.
The series also offers a strong balance between tonal clarity and tone color. The cup is slightly shallower than on other models, which makes this Laskey french horn mouthpiece suitable for different playing styles and musical backgrounds.
European shank and sizing
This version has a European Shank and is intended for many horns of European make and European design. Alongside the American option, Laskey developed a European shank size after testing many horn brands and leadpipes, so you can match the fit more closely to your instrument.
All G Series horn mouthpieces use a standard throat size of .182" / 4.62 mm. The 85GW size follows Laskey’s metric sizing system based on the approximate inner diameter.
