The Gretsch S1-6514-WS is a 14" x 6.5" snare drum with a walnut stave shell. This walnut version gives you a warm foundation with a darker character, deeper undertones, and shorter sustain than maple, making this snare a strong choice if you want a compact yet full response.
The stave construction uses solid wood segments instead of a traditional ply shell. That creates a denser, sturdier build with a robust sound that comes across as louder, sharper, fuller, and more powerful.
Build and response of the Gretsch S1-6514-WS
The 30° bearing edges give this Gretsch snare drum a precise response. Tilco Snare Wires keep the articulation tight, so ghost notes, accents, and rimshots come through clearly.
The 3 mm Triple Flange Hoops also add extra projection and power. A newly designed Full Range Throw Off & Butt Plate completes the setup, finished in durable satin clear lacquer in Satin Natural.
