Yamaha drum kit in 100% birch
If you want a drum kit with direct response and tight, focused projection, the Yamaha SBP2F5 Stage Custom Birch Drum Kit is a strong choice. This Yamaha drum set uses 100% birch shells in a 6-ply 7.2 mm construction, a build known for short decay, fast attack and a tight sound with good separation between the drums.
The configuration includes a 22 x 17 bass drum, 10 x 7 and 12 x 8 toms, a 16 x 15 floor tom and a 14 x 5.5 snare drum. The red lacquer finish shows off the natural wood grain and reflects the kind of look Yamaha also applies to higher-end kits.
Stage Custom Birch with Yamaha hardware
With this Stage Custom Birch, the shells are only part of the story; the way the hardware works with the instrument matters just as much. The Absolute Lugs use an internal locking mechanism that helps prevent tension bolts from loosening while you play, while the cast bass drum claws with rubber inserts reduce unwanted noise.
The Y.E.S.S. tom mounting system keeps contact between hardware and shell to a minimum and places the mount at a point where shell vibration is disturbed as little as possible. That gives the toms an open sustain while keeping the setup stable, even under heavier playing.
Practical setup and finish
The toms and floor tom use 1.5 mm triple flange steel hoops, the bass drum has a wood hoop, and the bearing edge is cut to 45 degrees / R1.5. The toms come with Remo UT Ambassador Clear batter heads and Remo UC Ambassador Clear bottom heads; the bass drum in this 22 inch size uses a Remo UC P3 Ebony front head and a Remo UT P3 Clear batter head.
The Yamaha ball mount and clamp also make setup quick and practical. At Magna Music in Roosendaal, you can also get personal advice from musicians who know what matters in a drum set.
