RJ Drums oak snare drum with distinctive construction
The RJ Drums RJ007 is a 14x5.5 inch oak snare drum handmade from a single tree trunk. That immediately gives this limited edition a distinctive build and appearance. The natural cracks in the oak have been filled with blue epoxy, giving the shell a pronounced look while keeping the character of the wood visible.
On the outside, the snare is finished with dark brown Osmo oil stain and wax. This gives the RJ Drums RJ007 a warm, dark appearance that matches the natural oak nicely.
Construction details of the 14x5.5 snare drum
The shell has a conical inner profile. The batter side is 9 mm thick and the snare side is 12 mm. This snare drum also has 10 lugs, which suits even tuning across the head.
It uses a Remo Ambassador coated “RJ” batter head and a Remo Ambassador Hazy snare side head underneath. The strainer is a Trick Drums Multi Step Throw off and the snare wires are Pure Sound Pro.
